Iran launches international Islamic TV channel

MOSCOW, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Iran has launched an independent TV channel to promote Islam, national media reported on Saturday.
The channel, Saamen International, was launched on Friday, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the eighth Shia Imam Reza.
It is billed as "an independent channel that aims to promote a better understanding of Islam and the Shia tradition, as well as ethical and ideological issues."
The channel's website is available at Saamentv.org.
