MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) - Nicaraguan authorities have evacuated some 2,200 people after Hurricane Ida slammed into the Atlantic coast of the country on Thursday, national media said.
The hurricane was running a speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) as it ripped into the country, damaging homes and infrastructure. It then lost force and turned into a tropical storm.
No deaths or injuries have been reported.
The hurricane tore down telegraph poles and electricity pylons as it whipped through the Central American state.
