NEW DELHI, November 6 (RIA Novosti) - At least 22 people died on Friday when a bus fell into a gorge in northern India, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.
The accident occurred near the Haripur area of the Kangra district in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh. The overcrowded bus plunged into the 100-feet deep gorge when the driver lost control over the vehicle.
According to other sources, at least 18 people died in the accident.
Police are working at the site.
Such accidents are common in the Himalayas due to poorly maintained vehicles and roads. Last year, a bus carrying pilgrims went off a mountain path, killing some 40 people.
