A suicide bomber blew himself up on Friday morning while riding a motorcycle through a crowded area of Farah in southwest Afghanistan, killing at least six people, local police said.
News agencies quoted Farah Province Police Chief Faqir Mohammad Askar as saying the blast went off in an area where heavy goods vehicles were being loaded. At least 36 people were injured.
The area has seen a rise in militant violence in recent months.
On Sunday, Taliban insurgents killed two Afghans who had been kidnapped in the Farah province, accusing them of aiding President Hamid Karzai's government.
