The council of EU interior ministers decided on Monday to end visa requirements for Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, the vice president of the European Commission said.
"I can confirm that the council of EU interior minister resolved this morning to lift visa requirements for residents of Serbia, the former Yugoslavian republic of Macedonia, and Montenegro," Jacques Barrot said.
Visa-free travel will start from December 19 for citizens of the three states, for visits to the EU of up to 90 days within a six-month period.
Visa-free travel will be granted only to holders of modern biometric passports.
