Ukraine has paid Russia for natural gas supplies in November in full, the country's national energy company Naftogaz said on Friday.
Gas relations between the two ex-Soviet states have been closely followed in Europe which was left without gas at the start of the year, when Russia briefly cut off supplies to and transits via Ukraine amid a bitter debt dispute with Kiev.
"Naftogaz has paid Gazprom for natural gas imported in November 2009 on time and in full. The company has received confirmation from a corresponding bank," the firm said in a news release.
The company paid $770 million for gas supplied last month.
Naftogaz pledged further payments to provide "Ukrainian consumers with enough gas and ensure uninterrupted transits" to the European Union despite a domestic economic crisis.
