Asylum seekers who refused to leave a train they had boarded in Poland did not seize it, Georgia's ambassador to Poland said on Wednesday.
"Two hundred individuals, including about 30 Georgian citizens, did not have tickets. They refused to buy tickets and, after demand, refused to leave the train," Konstantin Kavtaradze said on Georgia's Rustavi-2 TV-channel.
The group, which is protesting against poor living conditions and long processing times for asylum applications in Poland, boarded the train with no tickets in an attempt reach a human rights protest in Strasbourg.
The Georgian and Russian asylum seekers, including from Russia's troubled republics of Chechnya and Ingushetia, refused to leave when the train was stopped at the Polish checkpoint in Zgorzelec on the German border.
Police were called and after several hours the protesters left the train peacefully, dpa reported.
The refugees have demanded they be given official status as soon as possible and be provided with tolerable food.
Though Poland is a Schengen country, foreigners lacking official refugee status cannot cross the border into Germany.
