Man sets off grenade in his hands in Azerbaijani capital

BAKU, December 31 (RIA Novosti) - A man killed himself and wounded another after setting off a grenade in his hands in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, local ANS television channel reported.
The man, who blew himself up, was identified as 46-year-old Rasim Aliyev and the other, who was wounded in his leg, is police officer Ruslan Demirchiyev.
According to Demirchiyev, he spotted a suspiciously behaving man wearing a black mask, later identified as Aliyev, and began following him. As he approached closer he saw that the man was carrying a gun. Demirchieyv immediately began calling for a backup from his colleagues, when an explosion followed.
Police launched an investigation into the incident.
