Tymoshenko still believes Ukraine polls were fixed

Topic: Ukraine after presidential elections

Despite her decision not to pursue legal action over alleged fraud at the February presidential polls, Ukraine's former premier Yulia Tymoshenko still believes that the elections were fixed.

"And I believe today that the polls were not honest," she said on Friday on the Ukraina TV channel.

She also said that she also believes that justice will be done sooner or later.

Tymoshenko, whose government was dismissed by Ukraine's parliament on Wednesday, narrowly lost to Viktor Yanukovych in a February 7 presidential polls runoff.

Despite earlier pledging to bring both legal action and crowds onto the streets of Kiev if she suspected the polls were fixed in favor of her opponent, Tymoshenko withdrew her appeal on February 20.

She made no effort to instigate mass street protests of the type that brought Viktor Yushchenko to power during the former Soviet republic's 2004 Orange Revolution.
