MOSCOW, March 13 (RIA Novosti) - At least 10 people were killed on Saturday morning in a suicide bomb attack at a security checkpoint in northwest Pakistan, police say.
Another 34 people were injured in the blast near Mingora, the main city in the volatile Swat Valley.
The suicide bomber blew himself up after being stopped by police as he attempted to get into a security facility in the town of Saidu Sharif, national media say.
The Pakistani Taliban has taken responsibly for the attack. The group earlier threatened to unleash a wave of suicide bombings in response to an army offensive against it.
The bombing follows the deaths on Friday of 45 people in two blasts in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.
