A doctor said the 86-year-old had a stomach virus but his vital signs were normal and the hospital expected to discharge him on Sunday.
The former secretary of state arrived in the South Korean capital on Wednesday to participate in a security forum. The octogenarian is still an active figure in diplomatic circles, and met with President Lee Myung-bak on Friday.
Kissinger was secretary of state from 1973 to 1977, under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, and was national security adviser from 1968 to 1975, and played a crucial role in shaping U.S. relations with the Soviet Union throughout that time.
In 1973, Kissinger received the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in securing the Paris Agreement, which ended the war in Vietnam.
