The Russian president is expected to attend a summit of the four largest emerging market economies due to open in Brazil on April 15-16, Russian presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said on Friday.

Before the trip to Brazil, President Dmitry Medvedev is to take part in the nuclear security summit in Washington on April 12-13 and also pay an official visit to Argentina on April 14-15.

The Washington summit, bringing together more than 40 heads of state, will focus mainly on the vulnerability of nuclear materials and securing them against the threat of terrorist acquisition.

In Argentina, Medvedev will meet with the country's president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner to discuss the development of bilateral relations in the sphere of energy and high-technology.

In Brazil, the president will take part in the BRIC summit along with Brazilian President Lula da Silva, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The meeting of BRIC leaders (Brazil, Russia, India and China) in Brasilia will focus on improving the current global economic situation and strengthening cooperation.

The BRIC group is also expected to agree on a common stance before the G20 meeting in Washington, which will take place in late April, the Russian presidential aide said.

The leaders will also discuss the outcome of the meeting in Washington and the new nuclear arms reduction treaty signed by the Russian and U.S. presidents in Prague on Thursday, Dvorkovich said.

After the BRIC summit, the Brazilian president is expected to pay a visit to Moscow to discuss bilateral ties with Medvedev, Dvorkovich said, adding that the Russian delegation in Brazil would not adequate for the "discussion of the entire range of issues" on the bilateral agenda.

The first BRIC summit was held in Russia's Urals city of Yekaterinburg in June, 2009. The leaders issued a declaration calling for the establishment of a multi-polar world order.
