More than 2,500 RIA Novosti readers have sent messages of support for the Polish people in the aftermath of the death of their president in a plane crash in western Russia on April 10.
"Dear Polish brothers and sisters! Please accept our sincere condolences for your enormous loss. I believe that this tragedy will help us better understand each other, and our relationship will become warm and friendly," wrote Galina Tumanova from St.Petersburg.
The head of the Internet Projects Promotions Department, Daria Penchilova said the messages have been arriving from Russia, as well as from other countries, including Ukraine, Belarus, Canada, Kazakhstan and the United States.
"It is a pretty big number of letters, considering the project began three days ago, two of which fell on the weekend," she said.
"My mother is 81, she has never been to Poland, but when this happened, she was crying. Sorrow has no borders or nationalities, we grieve with you" Eugenie from Montreal, Canada said.
"The bitterness of loss will subside. The wounds will heal," wrote Roman Sinelnikov from Moscow.
"My wife and I were shocked by the tragedy... Nowadays, when the media reports tragedies everyday, feelings involuntarily become dull," Muscovite Alexander Karandasov said.
The letters appearing on the website are not edited. All the letters will later be translated into English and Polish.
Many of those who write say that they have Polish roots.
"Dziekuje Wam, rosyjscy przyjaciele" (Thank you, Russian friends), Bartek from Warsaw wrote.
