Russian billionaire and Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich has kept his position as Britain's second richest man, a British paper reported on Sunday.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List 2010, Abramovich's wealth has risen 6% to 7.4 billion British pounds ($11.4 billion) over the year.
According to the list, which includes persons born or based in the U.K., Indian-born steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal has kept his position as the U.K.'s richest man, with his wealth soaring 108% to 22.4 billion British pounds ($34.5 billion)
The richest British-born billionaire is the Duke of Westminster at number 3. His fortune has risen 4% to 6.7 billion British pounds ($10.3 billion), the paper said.
Russian mining magnate Alisher Usmanov, a major shareholder in London's Arsenal Football Club, has climbed from the 18th to the 6th place in the Rich List, with his wealth increasing 213% to 4.7 billion British pounds ($7.2 billion) over the year, the paper said.
Fortunes in Britain are soaring as the world recovers from the economic crisis of 2008-2009. Stock markets are up, the banks are back from the brink and economic confidence is blossoming, the paper said.
