The Russian Northern Fleet and Norwegian Navy will conduct the Pomor-2010 joint military drills between June 7 and 11 in the Barents and Norwegian seas, the Russian Navy said on its website.
According to the Navy, Russia will be represented by large ASW ship Severomorsk, Il-38 ASW aircraft, Su-33 fighters, and Ka-27PS helicopter. They are expected to arrive in the Norwegian port of Bergen on June 4.
Norway's contribution to the drills includes the frigate KNM Otto Sverdrup, Coast Guard ship Nordkapp, Orion patrol aircraft, F-16 fighters and Lynx helicopters.
Vadim Serga, a spokesman for the commander of the Northern Fleet, said the countries will practice gun firings at aerial and sea surface targets, detection and attack of a submarine, release of a captured vessel from pirates, joint maneuvering and deck landing of helicopters.
