Cuba's Castro to make first TV appearance since 2006

Fidel Castro, Cuba's 83-year-old revolutionary leader, will appear on La Mesa Redonda (Round Table) talk show late on Monday evening.
Although Castro helped launch the show, he has not made an appearance on La Mesa Redonda since 2006. Local media say the talk show will be dedicated to the Middle East.
Castro underwent intestinal surgery in 2006 and ceded power to his younger brother, Raul, who officially became president in February 2008. Castro last week made his first public appearance since the operation.
Fidel has also released a CD of a collection of his articles from the CubaDebate website. Castro's column reflects his thoughts on global political events and is usually full of praise for his allies, but critical of U.S. leaders.
