The recent spy scandal was a "stress test" for Russian-U.S. relations that the two countries successfully passed, a senior Russian deputy said Monday.

"We passed [the test] ... without commotion, and even without excessive tension," Konstantin Kosachyov, chairman of the lower house of parliament's international affairs committee, said, adding that the reset in relations is still underway.

Russia and the United States on Friday ended the spy scandal with a swap deal. Under the deal, which took place in Vienna, Russia pardoned and released four prisoners jailed for spying activities against Russia in exchange for ten people recently accused by the United States of spying for Russia.

"Whoever attempted to use the situation to put obstacles in the way of the reset in Russian-American relations, this has certainly not happened," Kosachyov said.

He said he did not know whether the four spies released by Russia had been stripped of Russian citizenship.
