At least 49 survive in plane crash in China (Update 1)
At least 49 people survived in a plane crash in northeast China on Tuesday, Chinese media reported.
The Henan Airlines plane with more than 90 people on board went down near Yichun City in China's Heilongjiang Province at about 14:10 GMT, government and Henan Airlines sources were quoted as saying. According to China's civil aviation department, there were 91 passengers and 5 crewmembers on board the aircraft.
The plane crashed approximately one hour after it had taken off. It overshot the runway in Yichun's airport and burst into flames.
Over 20 people were hospitalized, Xinhua official Chinese news agency said.
Most of the hospitalized do not have life-threatening injuries, however at least three people were seriously injured, Chinese media quoted Yichuan Vice Mayor Wang Xuemei as saying.
The fate of the remaining passengers remains unclear.
The fire at the site is almost extinguished, however, the chances of finding survivors among the remaining dozens of people are minimal, Xinhua said.
Rescuers are working at the scene.
Visibility in the area did not exceed 300 meters, a Chinese official said.
The plane was a two-year old Brazilian made Embraer.
