Taliban fighters launched an attack on a U.S. military base in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday morning, the regional police chief said.
Some 30 fighters armed with grenade launchers and automatic weapons attacked the base in Khost province, south-east of the capital Kabul, Adbul Hakim Is'haqzai said.
Reports say the fighting is continuing.
A Taliban spokesman also confirmed the information, adding that suicide bombers were involved in the attack.
There is as yet no information on casualties.
