A German ship with two Russian sailors onboard was freed on Thursday by U.S. navy forces off the coast of Somalia, the vessel's owner said.
No further details were available, a spokesperson for DS Schiffahrt GmbH & Co. told RIA Novosti.
The Antigua-flagged Magellan Star with 11 crewmembers onboard was hijacked on Wednesday.
The European Union's anti-piracy force off Somalia, EU NAVFOR, said it was unaware of the incident.
The German Foreign Ministry said it would not report the incident as there were no Germans among the crew, which also included six Filipinos, two Ukrainians, one Pole and one Bulgarian.
