The Russian Defense Ministry will draft within a month its proposals to the U.S. on joint anti-piracy efforts off the horn of Africa, the Russian defense minister said on Friday.
"The U.S. and Russia are interested in consolidating forces to fight piracy. But we must gain understanding of how we should fight with them in the future and how to minimize expenses," Anatoly Serdyukov said during his visit to the U.S.
He said the two states disagree on who will command the joint forces.
"There is a problem. The American party does not want to cede the responsibility to command the anti-piracy forces. We, in our turn, maintain that rotation is needed," the minister said.
