Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro will pay a visit to Venezuela soon, Venezuelan state-run news agency AVN said on Sunday citing President Hugo Chavez.
"I would like to notify you that Fidel's visit to Venezuela will soon take place. We are waiting for you, Fidel," the Venezuelan leader said at a meeting with lawmakers.
The 84-year-old Cuban revolutionary leader, who has rarely been seen in public since ceding power to his younger brother in 2008, has made a series of public appearances this summer.
On September 3, he delivered his first public speech since 2006, speaking on the steps of the University of Havana before a crowd of several thousand people, mostly students.
Chavez invited Castro to take part in his party's congress in November last year.
