The foreign and defense ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states have agreed peacekeeping measures in case of an emergency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.

The foreign and defense ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states have agreed peacekeeping measures in case of an emergency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.

"The draft document... states not only the CSTO's readiness to carry out peacekeeping tasks, but also its readiness to provide those forces for peacekeeping operations carried out on the orders of the UN Security Council," Lavrov said.

It will be handed to the Collective Security Council of the CSTO member states for approval later on Thursday, Lavrov said.

The minister said it was important to the CSTO's efficiency in case of an emergency.

The CSTO is comprised of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status.
