At least 150 people were killed and about 4,000 injured in continued anti-government protests in Egypt, Al-Jazeera TV channel reported on Sunday.

The TV channel earlier reported 100 deaths, with the largest death numbers registered in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, and also in Alexandria and Suez.

Egyptian state TV reported early on Sunday that the Al Jazeera office in Cairo was being shut down and Al Jazeera reporters were losing their press credentials in Egypt.

Al Jazeera released a statement on Sunday that it strongly denounced and condemned the closure of its bureau in Cairo by the Egyptian government.

Anti-government protests started in Egypt on January 25, with crowds of tens of thousands demanding President Hosni Mubarak step down after three decades in power.
