Local media report that the opposition expects to bring millions to the streets in Cairo and across the nation on Friday, with some people on social networking sites referring to it as a "bloody" day. They have been urging the army to join the protests against the veteran president.
The Egyptian army earlier warned it would use force against anyone attempting to provoke violence or threatening the security of the public or the state.
