Amsterdam city authorities have drawn up a list of 600 troublemakers and repeat offenders they plan to "take off the streets," national media reported on Thursday.
Each of the individuals has been arrested at least five times in the past five years and altogether they have been hauled in a total of 15,000 times for a variety of offenses, the Parool daily said.
Police are to focus on the repeat offenders and use fast-track trials and preventive detention to keep them out of trouble.
Once they are in court, the authorities "will not let them go again until they are on the right track," Mayor Eberhard van der Laan was quoted by Dutchnews.nl as saying.
Families will also get special attention in an effort to stop siblings following in their brothers' footsteps.
