"I am now preparing my visit to Tripoli," Margelov said during a press conference at RIA Novosti.

On Tuesday, Margelov, who heads the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Russian Parliament's upper house, met with rebel National Transitional Council head Mustafa Abdel Jalil and his senior officials in Benghazi.

Margelov did not give the exact date of his visit to Tripoli, saying: "We're waiting for a transportation corridor from NATO."
