Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who has not been seen in public since a rocket attack on his compound earlier this month, will make an address to the nation within the next 48 hours, Xinhua news agency quoted his aide as saying on Sunday.

Saleh is receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia after an attack on his palace in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, on June 3, amid ongoing protests against his 33-year rule.

The 69-year-old leader is believed to be suffering from extensive burns and shrapnel wounds, but spokesman Ahmed al-Sufi said on Sunday that the president was in good health and would make a media appearance within 48 hours.

"I can confirm that President Saleh will speak to the nation in 48 hours," al-Sufi told Xinhua on Sunday.

Saleh has refused to cede power despite a popular uprising which has brought the country to the brink of civil war.
