The Palestinian Authority will hail any decision by the Mideast Quartet that would help resume Israeli-Palestinian talks, the head of the Fatah delegation visiting Moscow, Nabil Shaath, said on Tuesday.

The Palestinian Authority will hail any decision by the Mideast Quartet that would help resume Israeli-Palestinian talks, the head of the Fatah delegation visiting Moscow, Nabil Shaath, said on Tuesday.

"We will support any decision of the Mideast Quartet that will also be approved by Israel and set a ground for the new stage in the talks," Shaath said in regard to the upcoming Mideast meeting scheduled for July 11 in Washington, D.C.

Shaath reiterated the PNA's desire to address to the UN the recognition of Palestinian independence. "The address to the UN must not spoil the talks with Israel...if the talks are well-prepared on the grounds of the UN decision and Israel's readiness to restore the 1967 boarders."

The Mideast Quartet consists of Russia, the United Nations, the European Union and the United States. The agenda of the talks will include the dispute between Fatah and Hamas over the formation of the unity government for the Palestinians and the resumption of direct peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Palestinians want to form an independent state within the 1967 borders before Israel occupied the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

Israel wants Jerusalem to be its "eternal and undivided" capital.
