Egypt's ousted president Hosni Mubarak will be transferred on Wednesday from a Red Sea resort to Cairo to stand trial on charges that he ordered the killing of protesters during February's revolution, regional media said.

Mubarak, 83, has been under detention in a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where he is being treated for heart problems. His transfer to a prison hospital in the capital, Cairo, has been repeatedly delayed due to his health problems.

Egypt's prosecutor general on Monday summoned Mubarak to appear in court.

The first hearings are scheduled for August 3 in Cairo.

Mubarak's sons, Gamal and Alaa, will also be tried on charges of corruption.
