At least 18 people were killed in Algeria in a suicide bomber attack on a military academy some 100 km (60 miles) west of the capital Algiers, BBC said on Saturday.
"One or two bombers set off their explosives just after the breaking of the Ramadan fast," BBC reported.
Reuters said, citing a hospital source, that the attack killed 16 soldiers and two civilians.
Political violence has continued in the country since results of an election, won by Islamists, were cancelled in 1992. It has claimed the lives of about 200,000 people.
This February the authorities lifted the 19-year-long state of emergency.
