Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC), based in Benghazi, will move to the capital of Tripoli next week, al Jazeera quoted NTC' s chairman Mustafa Abdel Jalil as saying.

"I hope we will move to Tripoli next week. But before this we should thank the rebels and Benghazi residents," Jalil told the press conference in Benghazi.

The leader of the NTC, which has already been recognized by 60 countries as the only legitimate power in Libya, said that Tripoli became safe enough to establish the council's headquarters there.

Jalil also said that the towns, controlled by the forces, still loyal to toppled leader Muammar Gaddafi, have seven days to surrender.

"We want to avoid bloodshed, destruction of infrastructure and national institutions. So we are issuing a 7-day ultimatum to the towns of Bani Walid, Sirte, Al Jufrah and Sabha," the rebel leader said.

The demand comes as the NTC authorities announced to hold the nationwide elections in 20 months.
