Bulgaria’s antitrust watchdog has approved the purchase of another seven filling stations by NIS Petrol EOOD, a company owned by Russian energy giant Gazprom, the Sofia news agency reported on Monday.
A month ago, the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) allowed NIS Petrol EOOD to acquire the first seven stations.
According to the CPC, the company is a new player on Bulgaria’s fuel retail market and is unlikely to develop a dominant position that could affect competition, considering its small market share.
The anti-monopoly agency also said none of the market players have voiced concerns about the deal’s negative impact on the competitive environment in the sector.
