A member of the medical commission that examined jailed former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's health said on Thursday that she did not need any medical operation.

An independent medical commission including doctors from Ukraine, Germany and Canada arrived on Tuesday in Kharkov where they examined Tymoshenko. The German doctors examined Tymoshenko and have already left Ukraine. The doctors' results have not been revealed. On Wednesday morning, the prison service said that Ukrainian and Canadian doctors are continuing Tymoshenko's examination.

"The practice which we used was confirmed, we are not talking about a medical operation so far," a doctor from the Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery said.

Commission members said they had completed the check.

Tatyana Demchenko, a doctor at the penal colony where Tymoshenko is serving her sentence, said they are continuing treatment "the way that has already been prescribed."

Lawyers for the ex-premier claimed that Tymoshenko's health was deteriorating and that she was not receiving adequate treatment.

Tymoshenko was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison in October 2011 for overreaching her authority in signing a gas deal with Russia in 2009.
