The headquarters of Libya’s interim government in Tripoli on Tuesday came under attack by gunmen believed to be former Libyan rebels demanding payment, the BBC reported.
At least two people were killed in the attack, many more were wounded, an interior ministry official said. It is unclear whether the prime minister, Abdurrahim al-Keib, is inside the building.
Accoeding to the BBC and other world media, the gunmen are believed to be former rebels who fought to oust Muammar Gaddafi last year. They are angry over the suspension of a reward scheme which paid out stipends over allegations of fraud.
