Iran has invited Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to attend the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran in late August, Press TV reported on Friday.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation was handed to Rahmon by Iranian Vice President Lotfollah Forouzandeh in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, on Friday.
The 16th NAM summit will be held in the Iranian capital on August 26-31.
At the summit Iran will take over the NAM’s rotating presidency from Egypt for three years.
An international organization with some 120 member states and 17 observer countries, NAM represents nearly two-thirds of UN members.
