Dushanbe and Ashgabat committed themselves on Thursday to closer cooperation in combating international terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime and other security challenges.

Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon, on an official visit to Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat, met with his counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.

The two presidents reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in neighboring Afghanistan.

They also addressed trade and economic partnership, prioritizing the energy sector, transport and power engineering.
