UN's Envoy for Syria to Hold Talks in Turkey

Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN and Arab League envoy for Syria, is expected to hold talks in Turkey on Saturday as tensions keep rising between Damascus and Ankara, the BBC reported.

Brahimi will meet with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to learn Turkey's view of the situation. His visit comes just days after shelling from across the Syrian border left five Turkish civilians killed.

On Wednesday, Turkey forced a Syria-bound plane to land over suspicions that it had weapons on board. Syria has denied any illegal cargo, whereas Russia said on Friday that the passenger airliner was legally carrying Russian radar parts.
