Billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, leader of the Georgian Dream coalition that won in the country's October 1 parliamentary elections, on Tuesday presented the final list of candidates to the key posts in the new government.
He presented some of his candidates last Monday of whom most served under President Eduard Shevardnadze (1993-2003).
“Today, I am presenting the names of those ministers who were not named earlier,” Ivanishvili said.
He proposed Irakly Alasania, leader of the Our Georgia-Free Democrats party, for deputy prime minister and defense minister.
Irakly Garibashvili, another coalition leader, was nominated for interior minister.
Coalition press speaker Maya Pandzhikidze was nominated for foreign minister.
Former Milan soccer star Kakha Kaladze was proposed for energy minister. He was previously named as head of the Regional Development Minister but Ivanishvili said the ministry will be disbanded.
Georgian Dream won 83 out of 150 seats in parliament. President Mikheil Saakashvili’s United National Movement (UNM) will have 67 seats.
