Palestinian Hamas and Israel reached a ceasefire agreement after three days of violence in and around the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian official said on Thursday.
“A truce between Palestinian factions and Israel went into effect overnight. The resistance fighters undertook to refrain from attacks on the basis of reciprocity,” Ziad Jargon, a member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine Central Committee, said on Thursday.
The ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was brokered by Egypt, he added.
Palestinians had launched about 80 rockets into Israel over the past two days and Israel conducted a number of air raids on the coastal enclave.
