MOSCOW, January 3 (RIA Novosti) A car bomb has killed at least 20 people and injured 47 others in in the Iraqi town of Musayyib, south of the capital Baghdad, media reports said on Thursday.
The killed were Shia Muslim pilgrims visiting the holy city of Karbala, AFP reorted. A suicide attacker set off the car bomb close to a bus stop where the pilgrims returned following religious commemoration known as Arbaeen, BBC reported citing the police officials.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. The bombing has become the second attack targeting Musayyib in recent days seven people, including three women and two children, were killed when three houses were blown up on December 31.
Shiite pilgrims are a common target for Sunni insurgents during Shiite religious events.
