Dog Rescued after 4 Days Underground

MOSCOW, January 5 (RIA Novosti) - Italian fire fighters have rescued a dog trapped in an underground water-supply network for four days after it ran away from noisy fireworks over New Year's celebrations, the Ansa news agency reported on Saturday.

The dog, named Zico, entered the underground system in the town of Treia, central Italy.

It moved forward about 20 meters into the tunnel and was then unable to advance or return backwards.

A local farmer with an excavator helped rescuers access the area where the dog was trapped some four meters below the ground.
