LONDON, January 19 (RIA Novosti) – Thousands of passengers have been stranded for another day across Europe as airports have to cancel hundreds of flights due to heavy snowfalls.

London’s Heathrow airport has scrapped 20 percent of its Sunday flights as forecasts warned of more snow. Some 260 flight have been cancelled following 100 ones scrapped on Saturday and over 390 on Friday. The snow has also caused train delays and traffic jams across the country. Some 2,000 schools were closed across the country this week as weather forecast warned of 25 centimeters of snow.

Paris airports will cancel 40 percent of the scheduled flights on Sunday. Snowfalls also led to hundreds of flight cancellations in Germany and Austria. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport over the weekend.
