DUBAI, February 10 (RIA Novosti) – One policeman was killed and 59 others were injured during several days of clashes, which broke out in the North African country after the assassination of opposition leader Shokri Belaid, Al Arabiya satellite TV channel reported on Sunday.

The Tunisian Interior Ministry said 375 people had been detained in a police action against the demonstrators but did not specify how many protesters suffered during the clashes with the police across the country or how many offices of the ruling Islamist party Ennahda were crushed by the demonstrators.

Thousands of Tunisians took to the streets from Wednesday to condemn Belaid’s murder, attacking a dozen of police stations.

Belaid, an outspoken critic of the post-revolution coalition government led by the Islamist Ennahda party, was shot dead in broad daylight near his Tunis home on Wednesday.

Belaid's family has accused the ruling Ennahda party of responsibility for his killing. The Islamist party has denied any complicity in the killing.

Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali has announced a plan to dissolve the government and form a new Cabinet of non-partisan technocrats to ease tension in the country.
