MOSCOW, February 11 (RIA Novosti) - The ambassador of Poland in Iraq emerged unhurt after an explosive device went off near his car in northern Iraq, GlobalPost.com reported.
A spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry said the incident took place on Saturday noon. Ambassador Lech Stefaniak was among passengers of two cars that were en route to Baghdad, when a mine exploded near the northern city of Kirkuk.
The vehicles received minor damages in the blast, the spokesman said, adding that the important thing is that no one was injured.
Iraqi authorities launched an investigation to determine whether the blast was aimed at the Polish diplomat or was planned against someone else.
