ANKARA, February 11 (RIA Novosti) – At least thirteen people were killed and dozens wounded as an explosion rocked a Turkish customs gate on the border with Syria on Monday, media cited the Turkish government as saying.
Government spokesman Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said a minivan bound from Syria to Turkey exploded. He did not say it was a terrorist attack, adding that an investigation was underway.
“The type of explosive could not be determined as of this time,” Arinc said as quoted by the CNN. “In situations like this all possibilities are considered.”
Some 20 cars parked nearby have been damaged.
