MOSCOW, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - Car bombings that rocked the Iraqi capital Baghdad and other cities across the country amid Eid al-Fitr celebrations killed dozens of people and injured hundreds, media cited Interior Ministry officials as saying.

The bombings are the latest attacks in spiraling violence that authorities have failed to hold back. The worst bloodshed in five years is raising fears the deadly all-out Sunni-Shia sectarian conflict that left tens of thousands dead in past years may be returning, Al Jazeera reported Sunday.

As Iraqis marked the Eid al-Fitr holidays that follow the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, car bombings, shootings and blasts killed at least 91 people and wounded over 300 Saturday, the Qatar-based broadcaster cited security and medical officials as saying.

CNN cited Iraqi Interior Ministry officials as saying 64 people had been killed and 190 wounded in a wave of bombings amid Eid festivities Saturday.

In the wake of Saturday’s bloodshed in Iraq, the US State Department said it offered a $10 million reward for information helping authorities to kill or arrest al-Qaida’s head in Iraq. The department said the group is to blame for many similar attacks this summer, the US broadcaster said.
