MOSCOW, October 3 (RIA Novosti) – Authorities in Feodosiya, a Black Sea port on Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, held a sharpshooting contest in the memory of the city’s mayor, who was shot dead this summer, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday.

An unidentified assailant used a shotgun to shoot Oleksandr Bartenev in the back, but the mayor fought back and wrestled with the attacker, who then managed to run away with his handbag. The 57-year-old mayor died in hospital after his third surgery.

In yet another bizarre coincidence, organizers have chosen a bicycle as a prize for the winner, Korrespondent.net said. Kyrylo Kostenko, the mayor of another Crimean city Simeiz, was shot dead in February, and the gunman used a bicycle to flee the scene.
