Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will sign two cooperation agreements after talks in Washington on Wednesday, Serdyukov's press secretary said.
"[Serdyukov and Gates] plan to sign a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Russian Defense Ministry and the Pentagon as well as joint statement on setting up a working group for defense cooperation," Irina Kovalchuk said.
The two men will also discuss sharing experience in reforming the armed forces of the two countries, problems of strategic stability, missile defense, the ratification of the pact to replace the START-1 strategic treaty and cooperation in fighting piracy.
The talks are part of Serdyukov's two-day state visit to the United States.
