BRUSSELS, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - Over 1,000 foreign service personnel have been killed in Afghanistan since the Taliban regime was toppled in 2001, the icasualties.org website reported on Wednesday.

The U.S. has suffered the most losses, with 625 dead. The U.S. is followed by the U.K. with 121 deaths, Canada with 97, Germany 28, France 22, the Netherlands 17, Denmark 16, and Italy 13.

The site, which tracks foreign troop losses in Iraq and Afghanistan, said most foreign soldiers had died as a result of blasts caused by improvised explosive devices.

More foreign service personnel have died in Afghanistan since May than in Iraq.

Overall, however, there have been more than 4,500 foreign military deaths in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, including 4,180 Americans.
